During its first month in business, Amazon fulfilled orders in 45 countries and 50 states. Amazon reports that for the second quarter of 2006, earnings grew by 22% to $2.14 billion. Amazon attributes the surge in sales to lower prices and free shipping.
For those who want to go into business for themselves and be the next Jeff Bezos, there is a wealth of information available on how to start your own online business. The guide tells potential entrepreneurs how to get started, provides checklists for every step in the creation and launch process, how to build the website up after the site has gone live, how to increase web traffic and partner with affiliate sites, and how to handle customer service.
